The Federal and State Governments have collaborated on the introduction of a Nation Wide “HOME ENERGY RATING SCHEME”, which will  allow a 0 to 5 star rating to be assigned to a house.

This scheme has so far been incorporated into the Victorian building appendix of the Building Code of Australia where a home with a 4 STAR RATING is now mandatory replacing the minimum insulation requirements for walls, ceilings and floors.

The A.C.T. introduced this scheme some 4 years ago and results of their initiative have had an amazing effect on house prices, a copy of a media release is attached.

A higher star rating adds resale value to a home and saves money.

A Five star energy rated home in comparison to Zero star energy rated home over the period of a 30 year home loan can save as much as $25,000.
